Community Bus Driver - Ad-hoc
The Campbelltown City Council is looking for a Community Bus Driver to be available to volunteer on an ad-hoc basis, being available to cover holiday/sick leave, and be available for the occasional charter hire.
Door-to-door Service
As part of Council’s door-to-door shopping service which runs every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning, you will safely drive the Community Bus, which has a capacity of 18 persons, and navigate your way around the City of Campbelltown area to pick up community members from their homes, take them to local shopping centres, collect them, and return them to their homes.
Charter Service
As the bus driver for a charter service, you will be requested to volunteer for the duration of the charter’s hire and may be required to drive outside of the Council area.
Community Bus Driver volunteer requirements:
- Current Light Rigid (LR) SA Driver's Licence or greater and a good driving record
- Comply with all road rules and bus safety requirements
- Focus on customer service and safety
- Flexibility with working shifts
- Be comfortable with the use of a bus wheel chair lifter (training provided)
- DHS Working with Children clearance (arrange and cost covered by Council)
- Undertake and pass an Annual Drivers Assessment (organised and cost covered by Council)
Training provided and you will accompany other Volunteer Bus Drivers on routes as part of your training, and we are happy to arrange a time for you to go on the bus to see if this might be the right volunteer role for you.
If you would like to contribute to this highly valued community service we encourage you to submit an application today!
Or please call Julie Tkalec (Volunteer Coordinator) on 08 8366 9235 to discuss further.
