Housing Suppport Service Volunteer Dumfriesshire
Role Summary:
We’re looking for volunteers to support our Dumfries and Galloway housing support service in a variety of ways, and are able to tailor the role based on your interests, skills and confidence. This could include helping with some administrative tasks or providing 1-1 support to somebody affected by bad housing or homelessness. We’re particularly interested in hearing from people with personal experience of housing issues, or those who strongly believe that everyone has a right to a safe, secure and affordable home.
We provide support in Annandale & Eskdale, Stewartry and Wigtownshire (excluding Stranraer)
Suggested Commitment:
3-4 hours per week, for a minimum of 6 months.
Main Tasks:
This will be tailored to your skills, experience and preferences, and we would provide a supportive environment for you to take on new tasks as your confidence builds.
The types of tasks that you could help with include:
- Administrative tasks, such as answering the phone, typing or scanning
- Accompanying our paid staff to appointments with service users
- Providing 1-1 support to service users as a befriender, helping them to maintain their housing and achieve their goals.
