Social Media Marketing Volunteer - Retail Shops

Are you passionate about social media and retail? Do you want to use your skills to make a positive impact in your community? If so, you might be the perfect candidate for a Retail Social Media Marketing Volunteer position.

As a volunteer, you will help create and manage engaging content for your local retail shop's social media platform (Instagram). You will also interact with customers and potential customers online, and promote our shop's products, services, and values. 

This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in social media marketing, while also supporting your local Tŷ Hafan charity shop and our customers.

Age requirements: 17+

Locations: Across one of our shop areas listed below

Time commitment: Varied based on what you are able to do, but ideally, we would be looking for you to support for at least 2 hours per week

About our Tŷ Hafan shops 

With 17 locations across South & West Wales, our shops are pivotal in raising funds to help us provide comfort, care and support to children with life-shortening illnesses and their families, across Wales. 

As well as raising funds, our shops are a presence in the communities we serve and are an important means of promoting the Tŷ Hafan brand in the community.  

Our shops are managed by a small paid team with the support of our volunteers, who so generously give up their time, and with the support of our donors whose stock allow us to keep our shops full and appealing to our customers. 

Why do we need your help? 

Each of our shops are unique thanks to our diverse shop teams and the fantastic donations we receive from our supporters. We want to celebrate and promote our shops to increase engagement and brand reputation, in the hopes of encouraging more people to shop with us, donate to us, volunteer with us and to become supporters of Tŷ Hafan.  

As a volunteer, you could be involved in various activities depending on your preferences, skills and experience, these include:

Researching and creating creative content for our Shops Instagram channel 

Advertising products we have for sale  

Thinking of innovative ways to drive engagement and increase followers to our Shops Instagram channel 

Photography and producing videos for Stories 

Keeping up to date with current trends 

This is an exciting opportunity to help us to maximise engagement, promote our products and raise awareness of Tŷ Hafan's campaigns.

What type of person are we looking for?

 At Tŷ Hafan our people values are working together, demonstrating compassion, providing excellent service and taking ownership. We expect all colleagues and volunteers to behave with high levels of integrity and to represent our values as a core part of their role. 

Ideally you will have experience or a keen interest in using social media and producing content, particularly for Instagram. You will also have good written communication skills with good attention to detail and the ability to think creatively. Photography experience is desirable but not essential.

What difference will you make? 

Our Shops Instagram presence is something we really need help developing to promote our shops. Our shops are one of our main income streams for raising much needed funds to support children in Wales with life-limiting illnesses, but we would like to have a bigger impact and reach a new audience!   

You will be helping to essentially encourage more people to visit our shops, to buy and to donate, so that we can raise more money for the children and families in our care.  

Our volunteers are the bread and butter of the charity and we really couldn't carry on without them. You will be part of an amazing family of like-minded individuals who all want the same thing - to see our hospice thrive and to see smiles on the faces of young children!
