The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) is a non-government, community-based not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to exist for animals to live better lives. The Education Building Events Concierge role will be instrumental in ensuring RSPCA Short Courses and External Training events run smoothly for trainers and participants. RSPCA Education and Training delivers many engaging courses to members of the public as well as industry experts such as local council Animal Management Officers. The majority of these occur onsite at the Burwood East location. Assistance is required to ensure participants have a positive experience and that trainers have the support they need in order to focus on content delivery and networking with participants. Some courses run for a full day and some for half a day. Therefore, there will be different time commitments depending on the particular course that’s running.
The Education Building Events Concierge will be responsible for the following activities:§ Welcoming participants to the Education Building and showing the location of facilities such as restrooms§ Directing participants to sign in on the appropriate paperwork§ Emptying, stacking and running the dishwasher§ Creating a tidy and hygienic space for food and drink service§ Cleaning the benchtops and sink in the kitchen§ Setting up cups, glasses, water jugs, tea, coffee, sugar, spoons, boiling water urn§ Unpacking and presenting snacks for morning tea/lunch ready for allocated break times§ May include collecting catering from delivery person and placing it thoughtfully for the participants to enjoy§ Setting plates, tongs and napkins as required§ Packing up after the morning tea/lunch service is complete§ Placing leftovers in the fridge or delivering to level 1 kitchenAdditional optional tasks:· Making show bags for participants with goods made available to you in education office· Tidying, sweeping and dusting education space and/or kitchen shelves as needed· Assisting with tasks from trainer such as photocopying
To successfully undertake this role, the volunteer will possess the following skills, attributes and/or experience:Essential:§ Established, clear English communication skills and friendly, respectful demeanour§ Understanding of safe food handling techniques§ Understanding of maintaining hygienic food preparation and service areas§ Ability to work efficiently to a deadline§ Comfortable working with RSPCA staff and course participants§ Problem solving skills
The successful applicants will be trained by Education Staff including shadowing and assisting a team member for one event in order to understand the processes involved. |
