Chatty Café Facilitator – Volunteer Role
About Chatty Café Australia
Chatty Café Australia aims to foster community connection and reduce social isolation by encouraging people to engage in conversation at their favourite local venues.
Community Connections Program
Lutheran Care’s Community Connections program hosts Chatty Café sessions weekly during school terms across the Barossa, Light, and Lower North regions. These sessions offer a safe and welcoming space for anyone to drop in for a coffee, a chat, and a snack.
Volunteer Role: Chatty Café Facilitator
As a Chatty Volunteer, you’ll help create a friendly and inclusive environment at the designated ‘Have a Chat’ table.
Your role includes:
- Setting up and packing down the venue
- Welcoming new attendees
- Engaging in conversation with individuals
No special skills are required—just a love for chatting and being a good listener! This is a relaxed and rewarding volunteer opportunity.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Attend weekly sessions during school terms
- Support the facilitation of the Chatty Café
- Provide regular updates to Lutheran Care
- Report any concerns that arise during sessions
Why It Matters
Social interaction is vital for mental and physical wellbeing. Loneliness can lead to anxiety, depression, and other health issues. A simple chat can make a big difference.
