California State Parks - Orange Coast District


Trail Assistant Volunteer

Currently accepting applications for Trail Assistant Volunteers at San Onofre State Beach. 

 

Who: Open to adults who are comfortable hiking backcountry trails and providing information to members of the public.

 

What: Volunteers will be responsible to interpreting natural resources to visitors on trails in the backcountry as well as providing orientation and directions.  They will survey trail conditions, noting hazards/obstacles/illegal trials, and submit the appropriate reports.  In addition, Volunteers will communicate rules and regulations in a way that educates and encourages voluntarily compliance.  Shift times can vary from four to eight hours a day, depending on the park.

 

Where: Crystal Cove State Park and San Onofre State Beach.

 

When: This is a year-round opportunity that is dependent on weather conditions and seasonality.
