Seacliff Volunteer Programs
With nearly 2 miles of shoreline on the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary, Seacliff State Beach is an excellent place for fishing, swimming or taking a stroll on the beach.
What makes Seacliff special is the S.S. Palo Alto, the concrete ship, an icon of Aptos, and the ability to discover fossils on the beach without much effort.
Volunteer Positions include:
- Docents – Staffing the Visitor Center, engage with the public and interpret the natural, cultural displays in the Visitor Center, feeding and maintaining the animals in the aquarium, keeping the Visitor Center clean, maintaining the garden.
- Field Trip Educators – Leading K-12 school groups.
- MPA Watch – Collect data on coastal and marine use of marine protected areas (MPAs), such as surfing, swimming, fishing, running etc. The data collected is meant to inform the management, enforcement, and science of California’s MPAs
The most important duty for all volunteers is to support/assist the public when necessary and support the park as needed.
