Interpretive Volunteer Duty Statement
Purpose:
The purpose for this program is to provide high quality customer service to visiting park users and to provide interpretive programs.
Duties:
Volunteer will assist in the delivery of park interpretive programs and assisting with special events.
Reports to: State Park Interpreter 1 / Park Volunteer Coordinator
Skills Qualifications/ Expectations:
Volunteers must be courteous, possess a positive attitude, and have good communication skills. They must be willing to learn and share their knowledge of the park's resources with visitors; must work well with others including volunteers and park staff; must be physically capable of walking long distances over uneven grounds; be sensitive to cultural topics and be able to present a politically neutral view when on duty. Volunteers are also expected to help with the set up and take down and participate in ongoing training throughout the year.
Time commitment: Volunteers are required to work a minimum of 12 hours per calendar year to maintain active volunteer status.

Volunteers who serve in their State Park Volunteer capacity over the 96 hours per year will receive a district wide State Park Day Pass for the Channel Coast District Parks valid at La Purisima Mission SHP, Gaviota SB, Refugio SB, El Capitan SB, Carpinteria SB, Emma Wood SB, San Buenaventura SB and El Presidio de Santa Barbara SHP. Volunteers who serve in their State Park Volunteer capacity over the 200 hours per year will receive a statewide State Park Day Pass for all California State Parks.
