California State Parks - Orange Coast District

Camp Host

Currently accepting applications for Camp Host Positions at Doheny State Beach, San Clemente State Beach, and San Onofre State Beach - San Mateo Campground.

Who: Open to adults who have their own trailer or RV as the state is unable to provide housing.

What: Not all Camp Host positions look the same throughout the state or even the Orange Coast District.  We have positions for Visitor Center Camp Hosts, Maintenance Camp Hosts, and Grounds Camp Hosts.  For these positions, you can expect to be on duty between 20 to 30 hours a week.

Our Visitor Center Camp Hosts help greet guests, check in campers, sell firewood, and assist staff as requested.  Our Maintenance and Grounds Camp Hosts assist staff in caring for our properties, making repairs, and assisting with landscaping projects throughout the park.

In addition to these specific tasks, our Camp Hosts are often the first people that visitors meet when they come to our parks as campers or guests.  Camp Hosts provide valuable information for these visitors about the rules and regulations in the park, activities in the park, and popular trails and beaches for people to visit.

Where: Doheny State Beach, San Onofre State Beach, San Clemente State Beach, Crystal Cove State Park, Huntington State Beach, and Bolsa Chica State Beach.

When: The time commitment is at least one month and up to six months depending on the position.  Since this opportunity is highly sought after, we being recruitment starting in the fall of the previous year.  For instance, recruitment for Camp Host openings in 2022 will begin in October 2021.
