Living History Docent
Docents are highly trained volunteers who provide visitors of Columbia State Historic Park with a quality interpretive experience on a regular basis by participating in interpretive living history programs, assisting with special events, staffing the museum and leading guided walks and talks.
Docents receive initial and continuing enrichment training to which they add their own unique approach and experiences. If you have a passion for sharing and enjoy speaking to the public, a docent position may be a good fit for you.
Interpretive activities that Columbia State Historic Park docents become involved with include:
- Successfully completing the docent training program.
- Provide living history interpretation in and around the park throughout the year.
- Provide interpretive guided walks and talks to visitors and school groups.
- Assist with park wide special events.
- Perform research on the Gold Rush period, the buildings, and the people of the town.
