Henry Cowell Redwoods Volunteer

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is located in the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains. It's located only a few short miles from the city of Santa Cruz and features 15 miles of hiking and riding trails through a variety of ecosystems including redwood forest, riparian zones, meadows, and a rare ecosystem known as the Santa Cruz Sandhills.

Volunteer positions include:

  • Docents - staffing the two Visitor Centers, leading guided hikes, leading K-12 groups, roving
  • Wilderness Patrol - hiking identified trails and interpreting the rules/regulations (i.e. explaining to park visitors why specific regulations are in place. This is not the same as enforcing rules) when necessary and submitting reports to park staff

The most important duty for all volunteers is to support/assist the public when necessary, and support the park as needed. These positions are required to meet a minimum of 5 hours/month.
