Monterey State Historic Park

Museum Greeter

Interested in sharing Monterey's expansive history? Love talking to people around the world? Come volunteer to be a museum greeter with Monterey State Historic Park!

Museum greeters help to orient visitors to Monterey State Historic park while interpreting the history of our buildings. Welcome visitors into the oldest government building on the West Coast at the Historic Custom House! Or guide people through our 1847 visitor center at the Pacific House Museum. The duties and responsibilities of museum greeters are as follows:

  • Orient visitors to what Monterey State Historic Park has to offer.

  • Be responsible for tracking museum attendance.

  • Give out park brochures and information.

  • Interpret the history of our buildings in an accurate and professional manner.

  • Become familiar with park features and cultural significance.

Shifts for Museum greeters happen every Friday-Sunday in two shifts: 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM and 1:30 PM - 4:00 PM
