Interpretation for Visitors - State Indian Museum

Docents are highly trained volunteers who interpret the cultural, natural, and recreational features of the State Indian Museum for all ages of visitors.

Docents will receive initial training with continued opportunities for development and enrichment. These - along with your own unique talents and approach - allow California State Parks to provide visitors with meaningful and memorable experiences.

Interpretive activities that docents may become involved with include:

  • Educational Programming for Public Groups, School Groups, and International Visitors
    • Environmental Living/Studies Program (ELP/ESP)
    • Self-Guided Tours
  • Museum Tours and Nature-themed Scavenger Hunts
  • Annual Interpretive Programs and Special Events
    • Honored Elders Day
    • State Parks Week
    • Acorn Day
    • Native Arts and Crafts Market

If you enjoy meeting new people, are passionate about sharing, and enjoy interacting with the public, a docent position may be a good fit for you!
