Forest of Nisene Marks SP/New Brighton SB

Nisene Marks School Group Hike Docent

If you enjoy sharing nature with 3rd and 4th graders, then consider volunteering as a docent guide in The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park. An educational background is helpful but not necessary. Training will be provided for all tasks related to this position. You will explain to students the ability of redwoods to survive over 250 million years while relating how this forest, that was clear cut 125 years ago, has since renewed itself and is thriving today. Your goal will be to connect students to nature while enjoying a morning stroll through the forest and down to the creek where five-million-year-old marine fossils can be found.
