Client Driver - Auckland

Auckland volunteer drivers needed

You will be an experienced and fully licensed driver for this volunteer role, however, you’ll be doing so much more than just getting someone from home to hospital.

You will be in direct contact with the client who has been diagnosed with cancer and will be helping them to receive the support and treatment they need. It’s really important that you show empathy and understanding as you travel to and from appointments.

Being organised and punctual is essential too, as you’ll need to liaise with clients about pick up and drop off times, and connect with our volunteer team to ensure that every assignment runs smoothly.

As part of our 3000-strong network of volunteers nationally, you will join this important group of Cancer Society volunteers who help those living with cancer and their supporters through treatment.

Hours: This will be dependent on where the patient lives and usually takes 2-4 hours per assignment during normal business hours, Monday-Friday.

COVID-19 Protection: Volunteer Roles

At the Cancer Society our duty of care is to always protect our clients, volunteers and staff. Working with our most vulnerable clients means that we have policies and procedures in place within the government framework to minimise the spread of Covid. We also work closely with the ADHB on many aspects, to provide additional layers of safety.  The team will keep you updated on the most current Covid processes in respect to your specific roles. We appreciate that all our volunteers feel the same as us, which means following all Covid19 guidelines to ensure we can continue to safely support people living with cancer, this means you will have to be fully vaccinated to take on any of our roles.

If you think this volunteer role is for you, please complete the application form.
