Cancer Society of New Zealand volunteer portal

Oncology Host - Thames

As an Oncology Host, you’ll be helping to provide our clients with the help and support they need during their assessments, treatment and follow-up appointments.

In this rewarding role, being compassionate and organised is vital, but you will also need to have that extra ‘sixth sense’ to know the right help to offer at the right time – whether that’s a reassuring welcome or a well-timed cup of tea and a chat, or helping clients connect with Cancer Society Waikato/Bay of Plenty, with our Support Groups and Nurse Navigator liaisons.

As part of our 3000-strong network of volunteers across the country, you will be part of an important network helping clients and their supporters through their treatment.

We have an awesome team of volunteers in Thames, who all support each other and do amazing mahi.  We have the option of regular shifts open – whether this is once a month or once a week – as well as more casual on-call volunteering to cover absences when needed.
