Junior Docent Volunteer at Museum of Surrey

Junior Docent at Museum of Surrey

Want to be part of something BIG? The new Museum of Surrey is opening in Fall 2018 with youth opportunities that will brighten your resume and make you laugh all at the same time. Really, Junior Docent is a fancy term for hardworking youth who bring vibrancy to a number of museum needs.

What might that look like? On an event day, you might help with demonstrations or work in a team to assist with fun activities. On a quieter day, you might prepare craft material and chat with museum staff about ways to improve the visitor experience.  You may even help out with a program and get hands on with super cool artifacts.

If you are a 14+ organized youth, we would love to see your smiling face for a minimum of four hours per month. We will even provide training and leadership development so you can represent the museum with confidence.

If this describes you, please fill out the application form. For more information, email heritagevolunteers@surrey.ca or call 604-502-6461.

Application Process

As of March 16 2020, all City of Surrey recreation centres, ice arenas, culture facilities, pools and libraries have been closed to minimize the risk of transmission of the COVID-19. As a result, many of our programs have been suspended and there are no current volunteer opportunities for the time being. In anticipation of our future volunteer opportunities, we will still be accepting new applications to some of our programs. However, new applications will not be processed until we return to normal business operations.

For more information, please contact our Volunteer Co-ordinator at heritagevolunteers@surrey.ca

Volunteer Opportunities take place at multiple locations, including:

    • Historic Stewart Farm: Education Assistant, Garden/Orchard Volunteer, Heritage Activity Assistant and House Ambassador
