A lack of basic resources is often what pushes a struggling family into crisis. Sometimes, a simple need—a crib, a coat, a car repair, or a dental visit—can make the difference between stability and hardship.
As a Resource Friend, you step in at just the right moment—sharing your skills or resources to help meet urgent, practical needs and restore hope.
Safe Families Resource Friends are individuals who are equipped to give generously—offering their time, talents, or tangible goods to support families on the edge. Guided by Family Friends, these supports are thoughtfully connected to real, immediate needs.
As a Resource Friend, you will:
Share, Supply, and Strengthen
- Share your skills, services, or resources to meet practical, everyday needs.
- Supply essential items or support—such as clothing, household goods, transportation, or professional services.
- Strengthen families by easing burdens and helping restore stability and hope.
Resource Friends may include professionals and skilled individuals such as counselors, dentists, doctors, educators, lawyers, and mechanics—as well as those able to offer material goods or practical help like transportation, home maintenance, language support, or yard care.
By becoming a Resource Friend, you fill a vital role in the Safe Families ministry. No one else can offer exactly what you can—and your contribution may be the very thing that helps a family move from crisis to stability.
Mission Statement
Safe Families Canada is creating a world where children are safe, and families are together. With over 300,000 children and youth in Canada living in vulnerable families and at risk of abuse and neglect, SFC is on a mission to transform families and ensure that no family will face a crisis alone. Volunteers, known as the Circle of Support, are motivated to practice biblical hospitality, disruptive generosity and compassion fuelled by mercy. Host Families, Family Friends, Family Coaches and Resource Friends support families in crisis while they get back on their feet.
