Neighborhood Tree Steward

Stewards also assist in community outreach for park improvements or educational programs. Tree Stewards work specifically with the Urban Forestry & Neighborhood Tree program.  Stewards receive in-depth training with City staff tailored to the program.  Benefits of becoming a Steward include learning about  trees, developing a working knowledge of ecological restoration, developing leadership skills, and volunteering alongside others who enjoy the natural world within Corvallis.

  • Submit a completed volunteer steward application found at the Parks & Recreation Avery Office (1310 SW Avery Park Dr., Corvallis, OR 97333) or online at https://www.corvallisoregon.gov/parksrec/page/parks-recreation-volunteer-opportunities 
  • Have a current photo ID card or driver's license and pass a criminal background check.
  • A Steward driving a City of Corvallis vehicle must submit an updated driving record (3 years history minimum) obtained from the Oregon Department of Motor Vehicles [or other state(s), if you have not had an Oregon driver's license for at least 3 years].
  • Attend an orientation/field training session led by Corvallis Parks and Recreation staff.
  • Must be 18 years of age.

Corvallis Parks Division

The Parks Operations Division of Corvallis Parks and Recreation cares for over 2,000 acres of parks, playgrounds, playing fields, trails, open spaces and beautification areas. The Division also manages the upkeep of the Department's rental facilities, which include a variety of seasonally-available outdoor park shelters, plazas, soccer and softball fields, and volleyball courts, plus indoor event rooms that are available year-round.
