Summer Camp Teaching Assistant
Job Title: Summer Teaching Assistant 2016
Reports To: Education and Program Manager & Program Coordinator
Goal (Purpose) of position: provide children with opportunities to use imagination and creativity in a fun and casual learning environment.
Major Responsibilities: Facilitate fun hands-on activities for children ages 4 to 9 years old, assist camp staff with set up and clean up of activity materials, supervise and assist children during activities, and break times, prepare snacks.
Qualifications: (required/desired) organized, team player, outgoing personality, interest in working with children. Minimum age is 13 years old. Must be at least 13 years old by June 13, 2016.
Time Commitment: 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. daily (Monday-Friday) for at least 2 weeks between June 13 to August 12, 2016 plus a 1.5 hour Orientation and a 3 hour Volunteer Training. The weeks do not need to be consecutive.
Orientation/Training Provided: Must attend one Summer Camp Orientation meeting and one Volunteer Training session. Orientation is on either May 21 or May 26 from 5:00pm to 6:30p.m. Volunteer Training Session is on May 29 or June 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Orientation will include review of Volunteer Handbook, classroom management skills, and snack preparation. Training session will include activities illustrating Fairytale Town’s mission and customer service.
