Caring Neighborhoods
Caring Neighborhoods Lead
Do you want to make a big difference in the lives of seniors in your neighborhood? By participating in a Caring Neighborhoods group, you and a small network of your fellow neighbors can help seniors around you live independently and safely at home! Work with the Caring Neighborhoods coordinator to form a small informal group with at least two other neighbors and identify elders in your area who could use some support. Typical tasks include general errands, grocery shopping, providing a ride, friendly phone calls, etc. Sharing these tasks with a group of neighbors helps promote independence, reduce isolation and allow older adults to feel safe and supported by those around them. Everyone can use a helping hand, but many are reluctant to ask for help!
Desired qualifications- The lead acts as the group’s contact person for the Program Coordinator. An interest in helping older adults in your neighborhood.
Length of commitment- Flexible, dependent on your schedule. Periodic one hour meetings with your group along with weekly visits or assistance provided to the neighbors in need.
