Do you love animals and want to make a difference in your community? Animal Care & Pet Licensing offers three unique volunteer opportunities, each designed to help improve the lives of Calgary's pets and the people who love them:

- Foster Program
- Off-Leash Ambassador Program
Whether you'd like to spend time with shelter pets, open your home to an animal in need, or help promote responsible pet ownership in Calgary's parks, there's a role for you!
Foster Program
Foster volunteers provide temporary homes for animals that need a little extra love and care outside of the shelter environment. By opening your home, you help pets rest, recover, grow, and prepare for their next chapter.
Foster volunteers:
- Provide a safe, caring temporary home
- Transport foster animals when required
- Feed, groom, exercise, and enrich foster pets
- Complete daily health checks
- Administer prescribed medications or treatments
- Support behaviour training and socialization
- Supervise interactions with children and other adults
- Complete a brief survey at the end of each foster placement
Every foster home plays an important role in helping shelter animals thrive.
