Dimensions Volunteering

Volunteer Social Buddy

Location: Crowthorne, Berkshire, England

Would you like to bring fun and friendship to a person we support?

A lady we support who lives in Crowthorne would like a Social Buddy to enjoy going out into the local community together, maybe for a coffee or a trip to a local garden centre.

As her family no longer lives close by, she misses meeting other people regularly and having a chat. As a Social Buddy, you could help make a huge difference to her life.

Our volunteer social buddies bring a lot of joy, fun and much-valued friendships to the people we support, so if you’re interested, please get in touch!

Activities will include:

  • Arranging regular times to meet up (ideally at least once a month as a minimum)
  • Meeting, chatting and building a friendship with the lady we support
  • Being able to visit local coffee shops and other places of interest.
  • Have fun!

Activities will NOT include: Personal care, medication or financial assistance.

We are looking for volunteers who are:

  • Enjoy going out and about
  • Are friendly, chatty and a good listener
  • Are reliable/dependable and willing to commit to volunteer regularly (a minimum of at least once a month is preferred but exact times/days can be discussed)

A DBS check and two character references will be required for this role.

What you’ll gain from being a Dimensions volunteer:

Our volunteers play a vital role in our work and in return, we support with:

  • Access to free online training (with access to 800 plus courses)

  • Reasonable expenses may be reimbursed as agreed
  • An opportunity to gain real experience in the social care sector
