Car Groomer - Porirua

Mary Potter Hospice has a number of cars across Bases that require ongoing cleaning and general upkeep. Staff use the cars to visit patients and whānau in the community and they are an important tool to the organisation. The Volunteer Car Groomer looks after the cars at their designated Base by keeping cars cleaned (both exterior and interior) and attending to bi-monthly general maintenance checks. All cleaning products and equipment will be supplied.  

Key Tasks

  • Cleaning vehicle interiors and exteriors in compliance with required standards
  • Using appropriate cleaning detergent to maintain and enhance the appearance of vehicles
  • Moving and re-parking vehicles to perform tasks as required
  • Driving vehicles to nearest petrol station to check tyre pressures if required
  • Liaising with Facilities Manager/Administrator to organise a roster for rotation of vehicles to be cleaned
  • Identify any further necessary follow up required to Facilities Manager/Administrator  

Key Competencies

  • Take pride in seeing cars clean and well maintained
  • Good cleaning skills, including knowledge of cleaning equipment, substances, and how to use them safely
  • Knowledge of skills and techniques required for cleaning different car paints
  • Full clean current drivers licence
  • Customer Service skills
  • Able to work independently
  • Acts with integrity and respects patient and family confidentiality
