Recovery Support Volunteer
About the role
An exciting and fulfilling volunteer role in which you can work alongside our team of recovery workers and make a real difference in people’s lives. You will be supporting our team in providing a safe and effective service.
Location and Time Commitment
- 35 Boulevard, Weston-Super-Mare, BS23 1PE and community spaces
- Minimum of 2 hours per week, within 9-5pm, Monday to Friday
Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Supporting the needle exchange provision, BBV testing and Naloxone provision (full training will be provided).

Conducting drug testing to assist our clinical team’s assessments and reviews.

Contacting clients who are struggling to engage with appointment times.

Contacting pharmacies as needed to support our clinical and recovery team.

Accompany staff who are visiting clients in the community or on home visits.

Supporting staff in providing information on drug and alcohol use and treatment to the general public at community events.

Helping to plan and organise events to promote our services.

Ability to empathise with the challenges faced by the people using our services

Able to follow instructions and act on own initiative within set boundaries

Good command of the English Language both verbally and in writing

Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
- Willingness to complete appropriate training and work in line with the motivational interviewing technique.

Lived experience of drug and/or alcohol journey(s) is not required but people who have lived experience are encouraged to apply
