Health and Wellbeing Support Volunteer

About the role

Our Health and Wellbeing Support Volunteers provide support to our clients and help them to change the direction of their life, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential.

Our volunteers help to assist Nurses, Healthcare Assistants and Harm Reduction Lead in delivery interventions on a 1-2-1 or group basis, helping clients to take a holistic approach to their overall recovery journey by helping them to understand the importance of their physical, mental and emotional wellbeing too.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the clinical team and make a real difference in people’s lives, gaining experience in the substance misuse field and undertaking comprehensive training as you progress.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • ROADS, Carnson House, Rotherham
  • Flexible hours within 9-5pm, Monday to Friday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities 

  • Supporting Nurses and Healthcare Assistants to provide advice on harm reduction

  • Opportunity to support in the delivery of group-based sessions as a co-facilitator

  • Working with clients to develop an understanding of the impact of their physical, mental and emotional health on their recovery

  • Assisting and carry out screening processes including urine, saliva and breath tests

  • Assisting and carry out testing for BBV via Dry Blood Spot Testing

  • Assisting in Needle and Syringe Provision as part of Harm Reduction

  • Actively promote and be part of developing recovery activities and events

  • Providing notes of sessions to be input onto a case management system

  • Obtaining and coordinating test results with support from staff
