Community Volunteer
Role summary
As a Community Volunteer, you will:
- Help Clients access community services to support their recovery and engagement.
- Inspire hope and aspiration in clients. You will do this by showing your passion, hope, and belief in clients' ability accessing our service to make positive change..
- Support clients in their recovery in relation to their needs by helping deliver a person centred approach to their care.
Time commitment - up to 4 hours per week.
This role is based at ROADS, Carnson House, Rotherham.
What will you be doing?
- To connect and support clients to engage with services in their local communities to build on their recovery capital.
- To attend groups/activities/agencies with individuals initially and until they are able to attend without support.
- To facilitate and lead on a range of groups/activities available in the community.
- Ensure clients know about and encourage them to take advantage of local support groups and organisations such as mutual aid or peer support groups.
- Support clients to understand the range of services and help there is in the local area to improve their general health and wellbeing and to support their recovery.
- Explore different local groups and activities relevant to the service/client needs
- Engage with clients about what options there are related to their treatment needs
- Support clients to build their skills in areas such as housing, education, employment and training support.
- Working alongside Recovery Workers/MDT to utilise various communication methods to support service users engagement in their treatment pathway
- Telephone contact with clients to provide information about the services offered
- Where appropriate to provide telephone check in with clients referred by Recovery Workers/MDT

- Good verbal and non-verbal communication skills including ability to communicate with a wide range of professionals and clients

- Ability to empathise with the challenges faced by the people using our services
- Ability to work with people in a non-judgmental and solution-focused way.
- Able to follow instructions and act on own initiative within set boundaries.
- Lived experience of drug and/or alcohol journey(s) is not required but people who have lived experience are encouraged to apply
