As a Peer Naloxone Volunteer, you will provide support to our clients and help them to change the direction of their life, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential. You will be assisting Recovery Workers, Healthcare Assistants and Harm Reduction Lead in the training of the use of Naloxone and provision to clients. you will be operating at the community hubs, community events and Carnson House.          

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team and make a real difference in people’s lives, gaining experience in the substance misuse field and undertaking comprehensive training as you progress.

 

The time commitment is flexible, within Monday-Friday, 9-5.

 

What will you be doing?

  • Supporting Recovery Workers, Healthcare Assistants and the Harm Reduction Lead in promoting the uptake of Naloxone, 

  • Providing training to the clients in the use of Naloxone.

  • Supplying Naloxone to clients and recording the details.

  • Offering harm reduction advice and warnings of the changing risks due to synthetic opioids. 

 

The skills and abilities you will need?

  • Work with people in a non-judgmental and solution-focused way 

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

  • Understand the challenges faced by the people using our services

  • Ability to manage time effectively

  • IT literacy

  • Good verbal and written communication skills 

  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality

  • To develop firm boundaries to ensure a positive therapeutic experience
