Recovery Support Volunteer

About the role

Our Recovery Support Volunteers work alongside our Recovery Teams to provide support, information and advice to individuals in relation to substance misuse through 1-1 interventions in group settings.

In addition, our volunteers support teams who provide information and advice in the following areas

  • Housing
  • Family and Carer 
  • Veterans
  • Criminal Justice
  • Homelessness

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team and make a real difference in people’s lives, gaining experience in the substance misuse field and undertaking comprehensive training as you progress.

 

Location and Time Commitment

  • Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole
  • Minimum of 3 hours per week, Monday to Friday

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Welcoming and signposting our clients and visitors to the service.

  • Supporting the delivery of group-based sessions as a co-facilitator

  • Providing advice on harm minimisation and recovery planning

  • Working with clients both in service and on an outreach basis to build and maintain their recovery capital

  • Performing recovery check-ins and aftercare support for those nearing the end of their treatment pathways

  • Assisting and carrying out screening processes including urine, saliva and breath tests, BBV testing and supporting our needle exchange

Please note that we require you to be a minimum of 18 years of age to be considered for this volunteering role

 

This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an Enhanced level
