We are With You Redcar and Cleveland

Your role as a volunteer group facilitator will be to work with an Addaction employee or another volunteer to facilitate groups which support clients on the recovery journey. These may be structured groups where you will deliver workshop style information about alcohol or recovery, or they may be less structured mutual aid groups where you will help group members to share their experiences of recovery to help them maintain their recovery.

As a volunteer group facilitator you will:

  • Provide a friendly welcoming group setting for clients to attend and work on their recovery.
  • Liaise with a member of Addaction staff or another volunteer to plan which part of the group you will be facilitating and to carry this out at the groups.
  • Keep records of each group and discuss any concerns with the Volunteer Coordinator or other member of Addaction staff.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
  • Be aware of your safeguarding responsibilities and ensure you operate within Addaction’s safeguarding policies.
  • Ensure you inform the Volunteer Coordinator if you will not be able to come in on your designated days at the earliest possible opportunity.

Some previous experience working with small groups or delivering training or workshops would be an advantage, but not vital.

Your will have supervision every six weeks with a member of the staff team to discuss your support and development needs and be invited to attend the volunteer team meetings.
