Group Support Volunteer
About the role
As a Group Work Support Volunteer you will be working alongside our Group Facilitators to help our clients engage with and participate in a variety of recovery groups and activities.
We have a range of group opportunities including our Family and Friends and Relapse Prevention groups and would like for you to help shape the delivery of these sessions to the individuals we support.
Location and Time Commitment
- 35 Boulevard, Weston-Super-Mare, BS23 1PE and community spaces
- Minimum of 2 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Supporting the Group Work Facilitator to deliver group sessions

Promoting groups that are available in the service

Supporting and encouraging individuals to participate in group activities

Working with the team to identify individuals who would benefit from group sessions

Supporting staff with the preparation and planning of new groups

Providing peer support and practical support at group sessions.
What skills will you need?

A friendly, positive and approachable manner

Ability to work with people in a non-judgmental and solution-focused way

Ability to deliver key messages in a group setting

Able to work independently and as part of a diverse team

Ability to empathise with the challenges faced by the people using our services

Able to follow instructions and act on own initiative within set boundaries

Good command of the English Language both verbally and in writing

Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality
- Willingness to complete appropriate training and work in line with the motivational interviewing technique.

Lived experience of drug and/or alcohol journey(s) is not required but people who have lived experience are encouraged to apply
