  1. Job Title: Special Events Volunteer

PERFECT FOR:

  • Those with inconsistent or flexible schedules looking to learn more about history
  • Those who wish to work outdoors or with minimal contact with visitors.
  • People who are interested in learning more about living history events/reenacting events.

 

  1. Work Location:

Check in/sign in at Site Office.

 

  1. Purpose of the Position:

Special Events volunteer will help with the preparation of supplies, setup, or takedown for the museum’s various events. Events aides are given assignments as needed, according to their availability.

 

  1. Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Help prepare supplies for upcoming events (cutting shapes, sorting supplies, gathering materials, etc.)
    • Assist in the setup or takedown before and after events (setting up chairs/tables, sweeping etc)
    • Interested Special Events Volunteers are encouraged to attend, or assist at, any of the sites special events

 

  1. Qualifications:
  • Must accept supervision and be willing to adapt to changing situations.
  • Ability to lift at least 20 pounds.
  • Able to work in a variety weather conditions, such as heat, cold and rain.

 

  1. Commitment Expected:
    • Will attend any shift they sign up for and complete their assigned tasks
    • Fill out a volunteer application and adhere to all volunteer policies
    • Represent the historic site and Missouri State Parks in a professional manner

The primary mission of the Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site is the preservation and interpretation of the house and historic landscape as well as the interpretation of the personages of Nathan and Olive Boone and the Boone family in Missouri.
