Community Support Worker

Community Support Workers undertake much of the client facing work in our organisation, interviewing people one on one and working on solutions together with them. As we are an emergency relief and crisis support agency many people are experiencing huge challenges when they come to us, and Community Support Workers build connection and trust while delivering support. Clients almost always leave feeling much more positive than when they arrive! This role requires a short nationally accredited course and onsite mentoring, all training is provided, however if you have a background in community work you may be able to apply for an RPL.
Community Support Workers provide:
• Crisis intervention
• Holistic assessments
• Information, referrals and advocacy
• Support, including a supportive and listening ear, Emergency Relief (e.g. fresh food or food parcels, vouchers or gift cards, transport and pharmacy assistance, or other forms of financial assistance) and practical support like form-filling.
If you are a compassionate person with excellent communication and teamwork skills, interested in supporting those who are vulnerable and marginalised in our community, we encourage you to apply.
