Blackburn with Darwen - Environment

Environment - Keep It Tidy - Darwen

Keep it tidy (KIT) Volunteers

If you want to make a real difference to where you live, this is a great volunteer opportunity.

Keep It Tidy supports volunteers to keep rubbish/litter off the streets, keeping neighbourhoods safe and enjoyable places to live.

Volunteers from anywhere in the Borough are welcome. Volunteers can keep their own street litter free and this can be either be on their own or with friends and family. This activity can be carried out at any time, undertaken at times that best suit the volunteers. Volunteers do not have to do a minimum number of hours or litter picks, they can do as much or as little as they are able.

You will be joining an existing network of hundreds of local volunteer litter pickers. The benefits are not just a cleaner and brighter neighbourhood: - you can also make new friends and you will receive a FREE litter picking pack.

Volunteers can also get involved via the volunteer led Facebook pages Keep Blackburn Tidy and Keep Darwen Tidy.

Volunteers must live in Blackburn with Darwen.

Keeping the Borough clean and tidy is the responsibility of everyone. Every penny the Council spends cleaning up litter and rubbish is money that could be spent on other valuable services – from elderly care to road repair and education.

We would urge everyone to do their bit and take pride in their neighbourhood either individually or by establishing regular litter picking groups.
