The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award – Assessor

Position overview:

Assessor are volunteers who assist the young person with their Award for a nominated section such as physical recreation, skills, service, adventurous journeys and residential projects.

Activities and tasks:

  • Offer guidance, mentoring and encouragement in chosen activity
  • Monitor and support progress towards participants goals keeping in regular contact
  • Verify attendance and progress towards activity goals through a sign off process
  • Complete a short report on participants completion of the activity
  • Ensure Award Unit adheres to licence agreement

Skills and experience required:

  • Must be over 18 years old
  • Be suitably experienced and/or qualified in the activity which they are assessing
  • Agreed to and signed Duke of Ed Code of Conduct
  • Basic Knowledge of computers
  • Understand the requirements for the Section they are assessing eg regularity of effort, appropriate activities, goal setting.
