Position overview:

This position operates within the “Braking the Cycle program” and supports disadvantaged youth to complete their 100 driver hours which will enable them to achieve their provisional licence.

The Mentor acts as a role model, to build confidence and resilience in the young people participating in the program.

Activities and tasks:

Duties will vary depending on the work area. Tasks may include:

• Basic reporting on participants driving skills and areas for improvement
• Attend driving sessions in a timely manner
• Provide guidance and support i.e. Safe driving practices and operational use of vehicles, road rules.
• Follow direction of the local coordinator
• Pre and post inspection of vehicles being used
• Following reporting procedures for sessional use of vehicles.

Skills and experience required:

• Held an open drivers licence for more than 12 months
• Up to date knowledge of road rules and reporting requirements
• A good safe driving record
• Capacity to support learner drivers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Respectful of confidential information
• Accuracy and attention to detail
