Child Advocates of Placer County

Child Advocates of Placer County Board of Directors

Child Advocates of Placer County administers the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program for the Placer County Superior Court. As such we recruit, train and supervise community volunteers who advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in court, with the goal of finding each child a safe, permanent, nurturing home. Each year about 350 neglected or abused children enter the Placer County Dependency Court system. It is the goal of Child Advocates to provide a CASA volunteer for 75% of these children within the next few years. Our current board of dedicated individuals is seeking additional enthusiastic and active board members to help us reach our goal. Board Member duties are fairly typical of other non-profits, and include organizational governance, financial oversight and fund raising. Board meetings are held monthly, and include an annual board retreat to review and update our Strategic Plan. Each board member is expected to provide an annual financial gift that is meaningful to them.
