Adult & Children Clinical Services Department - Phlebotomist

The ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) program serves people in the community who have severe mental illness challenges and have become disengaged from treatment. The ACT team works closely with each client, meeting them where they are to follow small steps of progress toward a successful conclusion and a more independent life.


Phlebotomist Volunteers will track doctors’ lab orders and conduct blood draws to help consumers complete necessary lab work for medication efficacy. This service will ensure that clients receive quality medical care.


Phlebotomist Volunteers will be responsible for:

  • Tracking doctors’ lab orders
  • Conducting blood draws for consumers


Desired Skills, Experience & Characteristics:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Able to communicate clearly via phone and email



  • Volunteer must also be certified/licensed to conduct blood draws for labs
  • Volunteer must be able to use a computer to access electronic health records
  • Volunteers must be 18 years or older

  • Volunteers will participate in Catholic Charities Volunteer Orientation
  • Volunteers will receive on-site training at the ACT Clinic
  • Volunteers will have on-site supervision


Time Commitment:

  • Volunteers will serve once a week for 2 hours
  • Volunteers are needed on weekdays (Monday-Friday) during business hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Volunteers will serve for at least 6 months


Location: Catholic Charities ACT Clinic, 1001 Lawrence St., NE Washington, DC 20017

  • Limited 2-hour parking available in front of the location
  • Also accessible via the DC Metro Rail Red Line Brookland-CUA Metro station and a short walk
