Volunteer with the Medical Screening Team with Catholic Charities Mission of Mercy Free Dental Clinic in Washington, D.C.!

Medical Screening Volunteers will provide the vital role of ensuring that dental patients are healthy and stable enough to receive dental services that day. Volunteers will be expected to:

  • Conduct screening for COVID-19
  • Provide a brief behavioral health screening
  • Conduct a blood pressure, pulse, and temperature assessment of each patient ensuring vital signs are in an acceptable range
  • Obtain a current medical and medication history to ensure there are no contraindications to dental treatment
  • Confer as appropriate with the dental team regarding any patients with possible risk factors

Medical Screening Volunteers must provide a copy of their certification or license as of one of the following: Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse, Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Dental Hygienist, or Health Professions Student with supervision. 

The Washington, D.C. Mission of Mercy will take place at the Catholic Charities Spanish Catholic Center Dental Clinic, located at 1618 Monroe St NW, Washington, D.C. 20001.

Two shifts are available: Morning (7:30am - 12:00pm) or Afternoon (11:30am - 4:00pm). Volunteers may sign up for one or both shifts.

NOTE: This is a CLINICAL position. Documentation of proper education and certification is required for volunteers in this role.  Also, clinical volunteers must have a current Hepatitis B and COVID-19 vaccinations and a recent, clear TB test.
