Youth Transitional Program - Conversations with the Youth Transitional Program
Volunteer Project Description:
The Youth Transitional Program (YTP) provides transitional shelter and supportive services for up to 24 homeless single adult males between 18 and 24 years of age.
Spend a morning with these men and offer structured one-on-one social interactions. These short conversations will help the men in this program gain experience in asking and responding to questions and gain confidence in their ability to talk about themselves, ultimately improving their job readiness and interview skills. Past sessions have addressed interview skills, networking, conflict management, stress reduction techniques, personal financials, and public speaking.
Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and have at least one year of professional work experience to participate. Please feel free to bring snacks to share.
This opportunity takes place at the 801 East Men's Shelter located at 2700 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE, Washington DC 20032.
