Adult & Children Clinical Services Department - Clinic Support Volunteer

The ACT (Assertive Community Treatment) program serves people in the community who have severe mental illness challenges and have become disengaged from treatment. The ACT team works closely with each client, meeting them where they are to follow small steps of progress toward a successful conclusion and a more independent life.


ACT Clinic Volunteers will help the ACT clinic run smoother by organizing daily medications, updating medication listings in consumer profiles, assist consumers with obtaining MTM services and transit passes, and other administrative tasks. This valuable help will aid ACT staff in providing quality services to those who need it most.


ACT Clinic Volunteers will be responsible for:

  • Organizing daily medications
  • Updating medication listings in consumer profiles
  • Helping to update medical records and injection lists
  • Assisting consumers with obtaining MTM services and transit passes
  • Removing labels from empty medication bottles


Desired Skills, Experience & Characteristics:

  • Able to print clearly
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Able to communicate clearly via phone and email



  • Volunteer must be able to use a computer to access electronic health records
  • Volunteers must be 18 years or older

    • Volunteers will participate in Catholic Charities Volunteer Orientation
    • Volunteers will receive on-site training at the ACT Clinic
    • Volunteers will have on-site supervision


Time Commitment:

  • Volunteers will serve 2 days a week for 2-3 hours each day
  • Volunteers are needed on weekdays (Monday-Friday) during business hours (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
  • Volunteers will serve for at least 6 months

  • Limited 2-hour parking available in front of the location
  • Also accessible via the DC Metro Rail Red Line Brookland-CUA Metro station and a short walk
