Intern for a Semester with Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities hosts undergraduate student interns during the fall and spring semesters in placements throughout the organization. You are welcome to apply for a semester internship placement with Catholic Charities, if one of these describes you:
- an undergraduate student enrolled in a degree program at a local college or university
- an undergraduate participating in a “semester in Washington” program
- are taking a pre- or post-baccalaureate gap year
- are enrolled in a program of clerical formation and development

for Fall Semester Placements:
Apply by August 15th
Serve from early-September thru mid-December
for Spring Semester Placements:
Apply by December 1
Serve mid-January – mid-May
Placements:
Interns will develop a broadly applicable work skills in a professional, non-profit setting and are expected to work a regular weekly schedule to accumulate the hours of experience required by your program, typically 30 hours a week. Internships at Catholic Charities are unpaid and may be one or more of following central services and program service areas*:
- Social Service Delivery and Case Management
- Volunteer & Community Engagement
- Communications
- Development
- Parish Partners
- Finance
- Information Technology
- Community Organizing/Outreach
- Logistics and Warehouse Management
- Quality Improvement / Quality Assurance (public health focused)
- Professional Development
Desired Skills, Experience & Characteristics:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Able to work in a hybrid environment: both remotely and in-person
- Familiar with Microsoft O365 suite of applications: Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint and TEAMS
- Be a strong oral and written communicator
- Have strong research and analytical skills
- Be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including boosters

Time Commitment:
- Typically, 30 hours a week for undergrads and pre- post-bac gap years
- Typically, 12-15 weeks / semester
- Regular weekly schedule developed with your placement supervisor with hours logged in the volunteer system
Location:
- Hybrid combination of remote and onsite
- Typically, internship placements are in DC (Gallery Place, Columbia Heights, Brookland) or Montgomery County (Wheaton, Gaithersburg) or Charles County (Waldorf)
- Placements may be at any of Catholic Charities ~30 locations in DC and Maryland
