Community Options Volunteer

 

The Community Options program is committed to supporting individuals with severe and profound cognitive disabilities as well as with physical disabilities. Staff work to ensure that each person receives individualized supports and services

that enable full integration and participation in community social, recreational, job readiness and daily living activities.

 

Community Options Volunteers will engage clients in the program with activities such as reading to them, using the computer with them, and others. This will assist clients as they seek to become fully integrated with others in their communities.

 

Community Options Volunteers will be responsible for:

  • Engaging clients in the Community Options program
  • Reading to clients
  • Using the computer to engage in activities the client enjoys
  • Other engagement activities

  • Not afraid of people with Developmental Disabilities
  • Patient

 

Qualifications:

  • Volunteers must be 18 years or older

 

Volunteer Benefits:

Support:

  • Volunteers will participate in Catholic Charities Volunteer Orientation
  • Volunteers will receive on-site training at the Community Options facility
  • Volunteers will have on-site supervision

 

Time Commitment:

  • Volunteers will serve on one or two days per week for approximately 3 hours at a time
  • Exact dates and times can depend on the volunteer’s availability
  • Volunteers will serve for at least 6 months
