Family to Family Mentor Volunteer
The Family to Family program supports low income families in the DC area by providing them with support and positive influences. The program pairs families with mentors that encourage and guide them in their development.
Mentors help mentee-families build a strong community support network and gain the skills and confidence to nurture family relationships. Mentors provide families with support and positive relationship models, while promoting personal responsibility and accountability.
Family to Family Mentors will be responsible for:
- Supporting a low-income family in developing family relationships
- Providing families with positive models for relationships
Desired Skills, Experience & Characteristics:
- Able to connect with others
- Able to communicate well
- Compassionate
Qualifications:
- Volunteers must be at least 25 years old
Volunteer Benefits:

Support:
- Volunteers will participate in Catholic Charities Volunteer Orientation
- Volunteers will receive on-site training at the Southeast Family Center
- Volunteers will have on-site supervision
Time Commitment:
- Volunteers will serve 4 hours a month
- Volunteers must commit to serving for one year
Location: Southeast Family Center, 2812 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Washington, DC 20020
- Limited street parking is available near the facility
- Also accessible by Metro Bus 36, M6, or 30N
