Internship Opportunities - Customer Assistant - EDO - Intern
Maximum Number of Volunteers in Position:
Hours will be 8:00AM to 1:00PM, Monday through Friday. This is the second phase of a learning program through Inver Hills Community College. Student has already done the basic position as a Service Learner/Volunteer in a satisfactory manner and qualifies for work study through the school.
General Description
This position is an extension of the initial program as a Customer Assistant. The position will continue to assist customers but will gradually add knowledge and responsibility. They will learn about the various programs the county offers and what their missions and goals are in order to better provide guidance to the customer.
Duties & Responsibilities
Greeting customers, determining what customer is looking for, refer to appropriate resource. Knowledge you gained from previous experience will provide you with the ability to do more to help customers and coordinate services. You should be able to spend extra time to make sure needs are being meet. You will also be assigned other duties as needed and you will be expected to research an area in government that will increase your knowledge.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of 20 years old, Identified by Inver Hills Faculty as a good fit, can successfully complete a background check and has completed a semester of service learning with this program.
Minimum Time Commitment
Two semesters
Required Training
Training will be directed by Dakota County and supported by Inver Hills Community College Faculty. Specifics to be determined.
Work Site
Northern Service Center (NSC), 1 Mendota Road, West ST Paul MN
Other Information
This is a pilot project and as such we do not know how time will be divided. We will be asking interns to help other departments for various projects as needed. We will also be working with the school to identify topics for the student to research. At the end of the second semester we will expect the student to present a paper about their experience. We are hoping to be able to offer this site as a work-study position.
