Information Systems/Information Technology Specialist

 

Administrative Operations Quality Assurance (AOQA) offers administrative, operational and systems support to all programs and services working with various county customers including out clients, employees, and providers/vendors. AOQA helps mobilize each unit’s vision and helps integrate them together within the department and organization and has a presence in all aspects of daily work.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

  • Section: AOQA
  • Work Unit:  Information Systems
  • Education level/Degree sought:  Associates
  • Preferred Academic Program:  Information Technology, Computer Science, Digital Media, Information Science, Systems and Network Administration, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, etc. 

 

HOURS: The specific hours and schedule will be mutually agreed upon by the supervising Social Worker and the intern, with as much flexibility as possible based on the educational requirements of the undergraduate institution and the current Dakota County hybrid work protocols.

 

PRIMARY LOCATION: Western Service Center (14955 Galaxie Avenue, Apple Valley, MN 55124) and Northern Service Center (1 Mendota Road, West St. Paul, MN 55118).

*Other designated sites, fieldwork, and telework may also apply depending on specific assignments and county policies.  

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties of the intern will vary depending on the skills and interest of the individual and the needs of the agency. The following list illustrates some of the duties an intern might be expected to perform under supervision, but is not all-inclusive:

1. iPhone set-up/upgrades

2. Laptop prep: Unboxing - tracking / recording of asset - run updates - start installing programs

3. Set-up equipment - Drop-down spaces - Offices - Phones on desktops

4. Equipment maintenance/cleaning

5. Equipment runs to ADC (pick-up and drop off equipment)

6. Ticketing system – internal or county-wide a. Field tickets solo like access requests b. Process other tickets with current Sr. ISS supervising

7. Potential sharing in training on systems such as OnBase, or SMARTS, etc.

8. Train / troubleshoot with user with current Sr. ISS supervising

9. Shadow new hire training / onboarding

10. Conference room set-ups as more meetings happen in person

Note: Not all competencies will be covered to the same degree in each internship, but efforts will be made to address each one through county work or partnerships with others.

POTENTIAL PLANNING: Expectation onsite 80% + of hours. (ex. 24 hours / week, minimum 20 onsite) - flexible schedule during business hours of 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Prefer to start summer 2024.
