Greenway: Mississippi River Greenway - 5.09: Mighty Mississippi Cleanup Challenge - Dakota County
General Description
A little competition never hurts. It's challenge time again and we are seeking to defend our title as challenge champs in 2024. Join us as we aim to win another year as the largest, most impactful event on the river (though everyone wins in the end so its all good).
The Mississippi River is an impressive and historic waterway in Minnesota that runs for 2,340 miles to the Gulf of Mexico. The river is an important waterway through our county that unfortunately picks up a lot of trash along the way. Pollution not only hurts the environment but can be also be detrimental to local health of both humans and animals and the economy. What we do here in Minnesota directly impacts the remaining 1,700 miles of river.
We will be cleaning up the shoreline, greenway, and walking trails near the Wakota Bridge Trailhead in South St. Paul. Enjoy the event by the banks of the mighty river and help maintain one of our most beautiful MN treasures. All supplies and training will be provided by county staff.
Help us notch another year of victory in this fun and inspiring challenge.
