General Description
Waggin’ Tales volunteers bring their trained therapy dogs to sit and “listen” to stories one-on-one with youth as the kids read aloud to the dogs. This program is intended to build children’s confidence and enjoyment of reading.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage trained therapy dog at all times before, during, and after the program.
- Communicate with both children and caregivers about how to engage with therapy dog in a friendly and courteous manner to all guests.
- Work in a shared space with other handlers and therapy dogs.
- Keep track of volunteer hours for program reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 16 years or older.
- Dog and handler team must be certified by one of the following and provide credential proof: Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Pet Partners, or Therapy Dogs International.
- Must complete a required background check through the county for applicants ages 18+.
- Must be able to provide your own transportation to and from the library.
