Kaposia Library, South St. Paul - Kaposia Library: Snack Distribution Volunteer

General Description 

Be a welcoming presence while helping your community. Assist with providing a free, nutritious snack to youth visiting the library in the afternoons and help combat after-school hunger for those experiencing food insecurities. This event is made possible through the Minnesota Department of Education and Youthprise.

Date/Time 

Snack distribution services will be available year-round, Monday - Friday. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities  

  • Welcome youth and families to the library
  • Distribute snacks
  • Assist library staff with set up and take down  

 

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Must be 16 years or older. 
  • Must provide own transportation to and from the library. 

 

Desired Skills 

  • Comfortable with interacting with youth of all ages (18 and under) and from diverse backgrounds. 
  • Calmness when experiencing busy situations.
  • Interpersonal skills such as multi-tasking,  organization, problem solving, and relationship building.

 

Minimum Time Commitment  

1-1.5 hours per shift. Shifts are available throughout the week during the program season. Sign up and volunteer for as many shifts as you would like.

 

Activity Level

Mild - May include walking short distances over relatively level terrain. Periods of standing or sitting will be required. Comfortable shoes recommended.
