Health Care Support - Wanaka Well Volunteer
The Wanaka Well is going to be held twice a month on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at Wanaka Plunket from 10 am to 1pm. This is joint programme between Peer Support and Central Lakes Breastfeeding Trust, providing a drop in for families needing breastfeeding support.
The smooth running of such a venture relies on this role helping create an environment whereby everyone attending, volunteers, mothers, babies whanau experience a sense of nurturing, feeling valued, have all the time they need and very comfortable, whilst helping a develop a sense of community.
The role will include greeting families, supplying them with refreshments, playing with children (of the families attending and of the peer supporters) especially reading books and dressing up!
Sessions will be held on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at Wanaka Plunket from 10 am to 1pm so volunteers need to be available during these times.
Located in Wanaka.
We are looking for people who:
Have a genuine interest in families, are friendly, reliable, responsible and are happy and confident around young babies. Volunteers should be happy chatting to people from all walks of life and will be asked to adhere to confidentiality guidelines.
What we can offer you:
Training will be provided and will focus on health and safety, boundaries and practicalities. Ongoing support will be provided.
A police check will be necessary which CLBT will organise at no cost to the volunteers.
There will be ongoing opportunities to join the peer support programme and to link in with other networks. Volunteers, we hope will gain satisfaction from playing their part in supporting families in the area and enjoy spending time with children, the volunteers and peer support staff.
